SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is employed to validate if an e-mail message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the forging of emails made with the domain. In simple words: activating this function for a domain generates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send emails from mailboxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When a new email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks if it comes from an accredited server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet if it does not come from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. In this way nobody will mask an email address and make it look as if you're sending spam messages. This method is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a couple of clicks. The option can be found in the Emails section of our advanced Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to select one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be authorized to send messages from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the email addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This solution will provide you with the best standard of security, but it's not applicable when only your site is on our servers while your emails for the domain are handled in a different place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, that is included with all of our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will provide you with a very easy-to-use interface to activate the SPF protection service for any domain that you host in your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that then you'll only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be allowed to send out messages from your email addresses. If the email messages are taken care of by us and not by some other supplier, you are able to raise the security level even more and take advantage of an option for all the outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domains include our MX records. This option will provide you with more control and it will eliminate any possibility of anybody forging your email addresses with the intention of spamming and / or scamming people. It's not applicable if just your website is on our hi-tech cloud hosting platform, while your emails are handled by another service provider. If you are not sure what features to pick, our technical support crew will help you 24/7.
