An Operating System is the low-level software which controls a computer. It takes care of how your hardware functions, the communication with peripherals such as a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between apps, plus the prioritization of apps in case multiple ones run at the same time. Any program which is installed on a computer system functions by sending requests to the OS for various services via an application program interface (API). The interaction with the OS can be done via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting world, the Operating System is what commands a hosting server along with all the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition any other application for example a VOIP or a game server. When there're virtual machines created, they use a guest OS which runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they are also known as the most stable and risk-free OSs. We provide three different ones as each of them is supported by a different community. The packages which you can add on your server are different and this could matter in case you need to install some piece of software with specific requirements about the hosting environment. In this light, the internet hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the Operating System that you'll pick. You can select any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order process, but if necessary, we can always install the server once again with another one upon your request. As an additional service that you may add to the package whenever you want, we can update your OS regularly to keep it as secure as possible.
